The stunning coastal location of this house creates the magnificent views as well as plenty of
challenges around weather tightness and durability for this unique residence.
The highly detailed copper cladding called for just about all known tricks of the trade. And it doesn’t get much more challenging than organically curved walls tiled with hexagonal stone mosaics, topped off with shadow line architraves.
We’re most proud of the environmental systems of the house, which have been recognized with an
MBA award and an HIA finalist placing. As well as extensive insulation, thermal mass, shading and other passive features. The house has a 7.0KW solar system with battery backup, phase change material, and a hydronic heating system to vastly reduce its environmental impact.
